We get to pay tribute to two amazing members of our Board of Directors who have come to the end of their terms.
Jason Robinson and Michael Charney have been stalwarts of Swallow Hill long before they began their Board service back in 2013.
Jason, a trial lawyer at Fairfield and Woods, PC, joined the board largely as a result of the profound impact music has had in his life and his desire to help others discover or otherwise rekindle their love of music. He was particularly drawn to Swallow Hill’s mission and vision and its Community Outreach program and he was instrumental in helping craft our current strategic plan. After learning to play guitar in college and law school, Jason moved to Colorado where he stumbled upon Swallow Hill Music and began taking mandolin lessons. All of Jason’s musical interests coalesced when he began playing rhythm guitar and singing lead vocals for a local bluegrass band. Jason has served the board in a variety of positions during his tenure, including Vice Chair, Secretary and Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee.
Michael, a retired physician, is a musician, artist, traveler, and fly fisherman who has always been extremely active in the Swallow Hill Community. He participates in jams, workshops, classes, concerts, fundraisers, board activities and is connected to our community in ways that is deep, meaningful, and long term. He typifies what it means to be part of the Swallow Hill Family. In Michael’s words, “Charney is just an old hippie type who wondered into swallow hill 20 years ago looking to replace a broken string…and found a home.”
We are thankful for the guidance, engagement, and thought partnership that both Jason and Michael brought to Swallow Hill’s Board over the years and we know both will be seen regularly in our music community for years to come.
