Swallow Hill Music is a truly unique non-profit organization with a rich history of bringing people together to learn about, listen to, and perform music. When you invest in Swallow Hill Music, you are making it possible for youth and adults, from all income levels and every walk of life, to experience the joy of music every day.
Swallow Hill’s signature outreach program is Little Swallows, our early childhood education music program that introduces preschool-aged children to the world of music making. Classes meet weekly throughout the school year for 30 minutes in each classroom, introducing three- and four-year-old students music using songs, creative movement, rhymes, percussion instruments and other fun activities to address the four Colorado Academic Standards for preschool music: expression, creation, theory, and aesthetic valuation. The program integrates music into the weekly routine of early childhood classrooms and deepens the learning experiences by offering children positive and fun experiences in music during their most formative years. Programming is provided exclusively to children living in under-resourced neighborhoods; now serving more than 1,800 students from 29 schools will participate in Little Swallows including Denver, Mapleton and Aurora Public Schools, Mile High Early Learning, KIPP Schools, Family STAR Montessori, Dahlia Campus for Health & Well-Being and Warren Village preschool.
*A donation to this program qualifies for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit. Taxpayers that make a qualifying monetary contribution to promote child care in Colorado may claim an income tax credit of 50% of the total qualifying contribution. A donation to the General Fund supports our in-house programming and everyday operations. Concert ticket sales and music school fees cover only a portion of our costs, so the generosity of people like you helps us deliver the high-quality programming you enjoy!
Our Scholarship Fund is an ongoing program that provides very low-cost access to music education to low-income individuals. In 2016, we granted $34,000 in scholarships to more than 200 students. Donating to this fund is a meaningful way to shape the musical future of Denver.
Your donation to our Outreach Fund allows us to bring the joy of music to under-resourced communities. This fund supports our K-12 in-school assemblies and after-school lessons, our early education program, and special partnerships with other community organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association and Brent’s Place.
