“This is the greatest show of my life!” Steve Poltz is known to say. And night after night in town after town, he ain’t wrong.

Rising from obscurity in San Diego’s music scene, the Canadian born Poltz crept into pop culture via collaborations with the likes of Jewel, Billy Strings, and Molly Tuttle. Add to that a road warrior’s hunger to play any concert hall that will open its doors to him, and you have a legendary career in the making, not unlike Todd Snider, John Craigie, or heck, even Bob Dylan.

Fleet of foot, the raspy-voiced, twinkle-eyed troubadour doesn’t take the stage so much as float above it, and as he rises, the spirit of the audience goes with it. “The pickin’ is strong, and the songwriting is great,” The Bluegrass Standard enthuses. “But Poltz is unique because one of his sets also feels like a stand-up routine. It makes you want to dance. Smile. Laugh. Cheer.”

“I travel from town to town and fool people,” Poltz says. “I sing them songs and tell them stories and somehow they decide to pay money to obtain some merch and witness the spectacle. Then I return a year later and fool them again.”

Swallow Hill Music is proud to welcome Steve back to Swallow Hill as part of his winter tour on Friday, December 5 at 8 pm.

The next evening, December 13, Christy Wessler’s family friendly 21st Annual Holiday Sing-Along takes over our 300 seat Daniels Hall. We cap off the year by welcoming Chris Daniels & The Kings to – where else but the theater named after their frontman’s family? – Daniels Hall, as they reinvigorate their annual holiday throwdown on Saturday, December 20.
