For Janet Poth at La Cour, the atmosphere is what matters. “We’re not a sports bar,” she proudly said. “We have no screens at our bar.” What they do have, though, is free live music every night they’re open, delicious drinks, and French-influenced food.
Swallow Hill Music has made ourselves an integral part of the folk music scene in Denver, and we are excited to be partners with the folks at La Cour. For almost six years, this part-French bistro, part-jazz club has been serving locals. They pride themselves on being a scratch kitchen (“whenever possible,” as their website touts), with all of their French bread being made at another local staple: Trompeau Bakery.
For people who want a different experience from a typical restaurant, La Cour is the place to go — and we’re not the only ones who think that. Last year, Westword featured the bistro in their article “Five Cozy Wine Bars for Cold Winter Nights”.
Poth, the restaurant’s owner, also looks forward to our joint partnership. “It’s a no-brainer,” she explained as she thought about how our organizations can work together. “Come get a drink or dinner, and then go down the street and hear a show!” While the website recommends placing a reservation as the intimate venue tends to fill up quickly, Poth looks forward to people dropping by: “We just want people to walk in the door and see if they like us.”
And why wouldn’t you want to drop in? With jazz every night they’re open, no cover, scrumptious libations, and a unique setting, you would have a night like no other. Their deals are even more tempting: 30% off all bottles of wine for “Wine Wednesday” and dinner specials on Tuesday and Sunday.
