About the Artist(s)

Break Never Bend isn’t just the title of Drunken Hearts’ fourth full-length album, it’s a manifesto. A portrait of a “free land” where people would rather shatter than surrender. A place where principles matter more than comfort. It’s also singer/songwriter Andrew McConathy staring back at himself: a decade-plus of choosing the hard road, of refusing to smooth the rough edges, of breaking rather than bending. It cost him. But it kept his band alive.

Produced by six-time Grammy winner Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, Break Never Bend is the album McConathy was born to make. Uncompromising, ambitious, earned through over a decade of grinding and finding his sound from coast to coast: FloydFest (VA), The Green Parrot (Key West), WinterWonderGrass (CO & CA), Electric Forest (MI), Brooklyn Bowl (NY), Red Rocks, to his own Yarmony Music Festival on the Colorado River.

Louisiana-born and Colorado-raised, McConathy leads Drunken Hearts with an unpolished, defiant vocal that refuses to apologize. Alongside guitarist James Dumm, bassist Drew Packard, and drummer Eric Low, they’ve built an outlaw-country-rock sound built on stage before it was built in a studio. Berlin captured that without sanding it down.

Break Never Bend is what happens when you don’t compromise. Due 2027.
