The Kings celebrate their 42ND Anniversary in 2026 (Rounder Records) with their 20th album titled “40 Blues With Horns Volume II and a Holiday Party at Swallow Hill where guest artists have included everybody from famed founder Harry Tuft to Hazel Miller to Kenny Passerelli from Elton John’s band and much much more.

Chris is celebrating 50 years of making music professionally. He has toured Europe 25 times and played for three Presidents, The Queen of Holland, and at Festivals and concerts from Rome to LA. Chris is headed back to Europe in the fall of 2026 to headline the Texel Blues Festival in the Netherlands.

Freddi Gowdy, of Freddi-Henchi and the Soulsetters, (Reprise Records) joined forces with Chris & The Kings in 2010, creating a show with two inductees into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2013 and 2020 respectively. (Chris and Freddi). The Kings have been described by the Los Angeles Times as “John Hiatt meets Tower of Power” and by Westword as “Keb Mo with horns.” The seven-piece band has won numerous awards for their horn-drenched rock n soul music and performed for audiences around the world. 

The KINGS are Steve Ivey, drums; John Thornburg, bass; Colin ‘Bones’ Jones, guitar; Bob Rebholz, sax and flute; and Darryl ‘Doody’ Abrahamson, trumpet. They are award winning musicians whose careers include tours with the likes of Albert King, James Taylor, Russell Smith and Tom Jones plus the KINGS have backed Al Kooper, David Bromberg, Sam Bush, John Cowan, Bonnie Raitt, Bo Diddly and in 2017 served as the backup band for Garth Brooks, Amy Grant, Vince Gil, John Oats, Johnny Swim and more at the sold out CMHOF show at Fiddler’s Green - honoring Dan Fogelberg and Caribou Recording Studios. “ 

Chris Daniels was a co-nominee for a Grammy Award in 2013 and has won “Best Album of The Year” awards from The Boulder Daily Camera, Westword and The Denver Post. As an educator Chris received two “Excellence in Teaching” awards as an Assistant Professor at CU Denver for the past 24 years. He served as the Director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame from 2018 to 2020. Chris also served as the Director of Swallow Hill Music Association, the nation’s second largest roots music school and performance center. Daniels is also known for his affiliation with the Telluride Festival for 50 years as a performer - and for the past 12 years as the MC. 

Daniels, a cancer survivor, received a bone-marrow transplant in 2010 from his sister that enabled him to fight Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Since then, he’s toured Europe five times, released four albums with the Kings and produced albums for Hazel Miller, Dugan Irby and Kevin Ray.
