We know that when our students leave Swallow Hill after a lesson the music doesn’t end, it begins.
In our video Take Swallow Hill With You, we set out to capture the vibrancy of our music-making community and the City of Denver. We tell the active, day-in-the-life story of a student and her ever-present ukulele and Swallow Hill backpack.
Now we want to hear from you. Tell us – or better yet, show us – how you take Swallow Hill with you.
This summer we want you to share photos of you playing music as you enjoy your summer. Please share them on social media – Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter – and use the hashtag #takeswallowhillwithyou.
If you want to share, but do not want to post from your social media account, please send your photos with your name and a brief description of where you were to community@swallowhillmusic.org.
As you might have guessed, we want to make this a little interesting by entering everyone who participates in a contest. Those who share a photo in any of the categories mentioned below during the specified dates will be entered into a drawing for a prize.
These are the places we’d love to see you:
At a Park
From June 21 to July 12, share a photo of you taking Swallow Hill With You to a park. It might be your neighborhood park, the schoolyard across the street, a backyard garden, or a state or national park; we just want to see you enjoying the outdoors and making music! You will be entered to win a pair of tickets to a Denver Botanic Gardens concert of your choice, even if it’s sold out!
Take Swallow Hill With You on the go
Near a Body of Water
From July 16 to August 2, share a photo of you making music near a body of water. Maybe you’ll be at a lake, alongside a river, or even vacationing near an ocean. Just as well, you might be dipping your toes in a kiddie pool in your backyard. It doesn’t matter as long as you’re by the water. You will be entered to win a sweet Swallow Hill backpack like you see in the video.
Your Favorite Place to Hang Out with Friends
What’s your favorite place to hang out? A microbrewery? A block party? From August 5 to August 23, share a photo of you making music at your favorite hang, and tag a friend! You will be entered to win a group class for you and a friend.
Who knows what this will lead to? Maybe we’ll compile the images for a video at the end of the summer to show the world how We All Took Swallow Hill With Us this summer.
Final rule, and this is an important one – be safe and have fun while taking those photos. We don’t want you to Take Swallow Hill With You to the emergency room!
