Production Coordinator

Reports to: Senior Manager of Concert Production
Classification: Hourly Full Time, Non-Exempt
Hours / Schedule: 40 – 45 hours per week on average. Generally Tuesday/Wednesday – Saturday/Sunday, with 2 – 3 evening shifts (3 – 11:30PM), and 2 – 3 day shifts (9AM – 5PM or 10AM – 6PM). Summer hours may vary, with ten or more 12 – 16 hour days for our larger events.
Compensation: $22.86 – $27.93 Hourly with Medical, Dental, Vacation, and Sick Time accrual

Founded in 1979, Swallow Hill Music (SHM, Swallow Hill) is a Denver-based 501(c)(3) organization that strives to positively impact the quality of people’s lives through music. SHM operates a music school and three performance venues at its Broadway & Yale location, and produces outreach activities and community events throughout the Denver metro region as an SCFD-funded Tier II organization with a $5+ Million annual budget. In addition to music therapy sessions, Swallow Hill’s flagship early education program “Little Swallows” is provided for students across the city. The organization is the producing partner for concerts at Denver Botanic Gardens, Four Mile Historic Park, the Butterfly Pavilion, the Clyfford Still Museum, and various music venues. Job Description:
The Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating venue operations and supporting in the planning and execution of a variety of events and concerts, both onsite at the Swallow Hill Music location at Yale Ave, as well as various partner locations and offsite venues. This is a key position in the Concert Department at Swallow Hill Music and plays an important role in coordinating technical and logistical aspects of concert events, ensuring that our events run smoothly from setup to teardown. The role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Concert Production and includes administrative, production, and “House Manager” duties for concerts and events.
Qualifications:
● Minimum 2-3 years in concert production and/or event management- either as an assistant, coordinator, manager, etc.
● Works well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
● Must be willing and able to work independently and in a group setting
● Must be willing and able to work long hours, nights, and weekends
● Working knowledge of industry standard technical aspects of concert production and event management
● Ability to solve logistical and technical problems including staging, lighting, sound
● Excellent time management skills and organizational skills
● Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
● Strong communication skills and attention to detail
● Brings curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a drive to own projects from start to finish
● Excellent customer service skills and leadership, including quick decision making skills
● Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office; and ability to learn required business systems
● Proficiency with industry standard software tools for ticketing and sales like Eventbrite, Square, etc.
● Ability and willingness to learn new software
● Experience tracking and reconciliation of expenses for events (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities include:
● Coordinate and manage volunteers, box office employees, hospitality staff, security, sound engineers, merchandise sellers, vendors, ushers, attendants, and ticket takers on day-of the show.
● Managing our ticketing platform (currently Eventbrite). Building ticket pages with a variety of price points and on-sale dates. Import and format ticket pages to our website.
● Ordering artist hospitality items such as food, snacks, beverages (including alcoholic beverages) and maintaining an inventory of those items
● Ensure pre-show setup and post-show clean up around the venue, lobby, green room, and Cafe.
● Coordinate the day-to-day operations of in-person shows at the Yale Ave location and other venues
● Stage manage events including doors-open checklist, “5 minutes to show” notice, etc.
● Serve as emcee for concerts as needed.
● Ensure readiness and functionality of in-house gear, equipment, POS iPads, and iPad scanners.
● Physically carry and set up coolers, bins, and set pipe & drape, signage, tables on a regular basis.
● For our larger summer shows, work 12 – 16 hour shifts to support and help manage production.
● Provide additional concert patron support, as needed.
● Comply with all internal policies and procedures, and all safety and city regulations.
Physical Requirements:
● This position requires walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and standing for long periods of time.
● Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
● This position also requires hearing to accurately understand information at normal spoken word levels in a potentially loud environment and visual observation for reviewing, checking, preparing, and maintaining written and computer files.
● Manual dexterity to operate standard office, data entry, and other related facility and production equipment is required.

Music Therapist

Reports to: Outreach Manager
Hours: Part time, 5-10 hours per week with opportunity for growth
Compensation: $76.50 per hour (with sick time and 401K accrual)
Position Summary: This position will provide current music therapy programming, but there may be additional opportunities available for immediate work in addition to long-term opportunities. SHM’s outreach programming is growing rapidly and we are looking for interested therapists to teach a variety of programming. An ideal candidate will value music-centered and strengths-based approaches in their work, aligned with SHM’s overall mission of building community through music.
About SHM’s Music Therapy Program: Swallow Hill Music provides group music therapy in community settings throughout the Denver metro area, including current and past partnerships with the VA Hospital, Gathering Place, adult day programs, and senior living homes. Over the coming years, we plan to continue growing our outreach music therapy programs with new organizations serving homeless populations, adult day programs, senior living homes, and others. We are known for providing music-centered, community-based music therapy that values the strengths of each client and therapist.
Job Description: Swallow Hill Music music therapists use evidence-based interventions to support specific physical, emotional, cognitive, or social needs, using music as the tool or medium. SHM music therapists work with populations including:
● individuals with Sensory Processing Disorders or Autism Spectrum Disorders
● individuals with developmental disabilities
● individuals living with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer’s Disease
● individuals dealing with trauma, PTSD, or mental health issues
● individuals who are immunocompromised and their families
● veterans living with mental health needs
Qualifications:
- MT-BC certification
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Music Therapy
- Experience working with ASD, children and adults with mild to moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia, and early childhood development with special needs
Responsibilities:
- SHM music therapists will provide individual and group sessions at SHM Yale location for families interested in adaptive lessons or general music therapy sessions
- SHM music therapists will provide group sessions offered at remote locations throughout Denver metro area
