Swallow Hill Music is proud to present Iron & Wine at its Broadway and Yale headquarters in Denver on Saturday, October 18th at 8 p.m. This isn’t a typical concert; it’s an intimate solo performance by Iron & Wine, aka Sam Beam, limited to just 250 guests. Imagine a night so exclusive, it’s more like sitting on the porch with Sam Beam and a few kindred spirits. This concert isn’t just about a rare performance in a storied venue; it’s a powerful opportunity to directly support Swallow Hill’s mission. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the 46-year-old nonprofit’s local music programming – from bringing music education to under-resourced schools to cultivating the next generation of Colorado’s artists. “We have a great legacy of presenting artists who would normally play in much larger theaters and at festivals, like Ryan Bingham, Indigo Girls, and John Hiatt,” Swallow Hill CEO Jessy Clark said. “And we are thrilled that Iron & Wine will be part of that.” Recent Iron & Wine tour stops in Denver have included performances at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Denver Botanic Gardens, and Mission Ballroom – venues that can host audiences in the thousands. For over 20 years, Beam, as Iron & Wine, has captured the emotion and imagination of listeners with distinctly cinematic songs. His recorded output includes seven full-length studio records, collaborations with Calexico, Ben Bridwell (Band of Horses), and Jesca Hoop, countless EPs, singles and compilation/soundtrack appearances, a live concert documentary, and five Grammy nominations. For an artist that is celebrated for exploring the boundless possibilities of their songs with a rotating cast of collaborators, Beam once remarked to American Songwriter that despite all his musical partners, “Iron & Wine is a band with one permanent member.” He elaborated that he is comfortable in both group or solo settings. “I enjoy an opportunity to switch things up and play a song differently. So I have no trouble playing them alone, if that’s what I’m doing on a particular night.” The benefit concert supports Swallow Hill’s mission to build community through music performance, education, and outreach. In 2024 the nonprofit produced more than 200 concerts, with nearly half of those featuring Colorado-based artists. Its music school taught 555 group music classes, totaling more than 36,000 student hours. Its flagship community outreach program, Little Swallows, meanwhile, partnered with 29 Denver-area schools to bring music to over 2,100 preschool-aged children. Sponsorship packages are available for the benefit concert. Please contact Development Director Cecile Kerr, for more information. Tickets for the general public are on sale now. |
