Open mics are held every second Thursday in our Quinlan Cafe* – all performers are welcome! Bring your instrument, voice, or just yourself to perform whatever creative material you’ve been working on in a fun, welcoming community environment.
PERFORMERS AND ATTENDEES, PLEASE READ BELOW AS OUR OPEN MIC PROCESS HAS CHANGED:
Doors open at 6PM and sign up begins promptly at 6:30PM. Anyone arriving after 6:30 can be added to the list IF there is still room.
Participants – please sign the attendance form as you arrive, with your name, email, and the county where you reside.
At 6:30PM, the co-host will begin sign-ups by having participants pick random numbers from our magic coffee can. Starting from #1 going to #20, participants may sign up for whichever slot that they wish to fill.
Performances begin at 7PM and go until 9PM. Our talented host, John Dandurand, usually starts things off with a song or two right before 7PM.
Each performer will get approximately 5 – 7 minutes of stage time. This may vary, based on the number of performers who sign up at each open mic. We suggest each performer plans on one song, but feel free to prepare a second song in case there is time!
$5 Suggested Donation: Donate online at this link or bring cash in-person. This is not required, but if you’re in a position to be able to donate, it goes a long way to help us cover the costs to keep this event going. Thank you in advance!
Our setup includes: Four (4) microphones/stands, a keyboard, and ability to plug in up to two instruments. We mix these to two monitors and three room speakers, all managed by a professional sound engineer. We cannot currently accommodate drum kits at open mic, however you are welcome to bring a cajon, hand drum, or other percussion that can be loaded on/off stage in under a minute.
If you have any questions: email info@swallowhillmusic.org. Thanks for your interest!
* One note about the Quinlan Cafe: Unfortunately, our cafe is only accessible by a short set of stairs; we do not currently have a ramp or elevator to this space.
