Somethin’ About Lulu writes and sings songs and tells stories that in one moment gets their audiences rolling on the floor with laughter and in the next moment has them wiping away a tear. The Boulder based trio found each other in 2006 as members of the Resonance Women’s Chorus of Boulder. At the annual talent show, they teamed up to do a few songs and realized that this was the beginning of something very special. Soon they were playing the local coffeehouse scene and quickly started to attract a wider fan base, performing at the Rialto in Loveland, Avogadro’s Number in Ft. Collins, the Boulder Theater, Swallow Hill Music and outdoor festivals.
The trio melds multiple genres from jazz & blues to traditional and contemporary folk, with mellifluous 3-part harmonies and killer guitar stylings. They pepper in dobro, ukulele, autoharp and some spicy percussion. Their music is personal, political, playful, passionate and powerful.
Somethin’ About Lulu loves to play around the campfire, at house concerts and coffeehouses as well as at large venues, reveling in the give and take of musical energy between audience and band.
Somethin’ About Lulu has a self-titled album produced by John McVey of Cinder Sound Studios in Longmont.
