Born in a small country town in New England and raised in a musical family, Grammy-nominated songwriter Reed Foehl crafts stories of the human condition with poignant lyrics and a voice that both pushes boundaries and honors tradition. His music, a blend of genuine Folk and Americana, is marked by a dusty, patient quality that resonates deeply.
In May 2022, Foehl released his sixth studio album, “Wild Wild Love,” recorded with The Band of Heathens in Austin, TX. The Boston Globe praised his work, stating, “He sings like he feels every note, each song tells a story… of which he relates astonishingly well.”
Foehl received a Grammy nomination for his song “Fly,” co-written with Brent Cobb and covered by country legend Lee Ann Womack.
Now residing in the Green Mountains of Vermont, Foehl continues to tour globally, sharing his music with audiences around the world.
In addition to his live performances, Murdock has also established his songwriting career by earning an honorable mention from the International Songwriting Competition for his song Jersey Whiskey as well as having his debut record Fiction on the official ballot for the Grammys in five categories. He has co-written songs that have appeared in the television shows Joan of Arcadia, Dawsons Creek, MTV’s Made, and The Biggest Loser. The song When it Comes Around appeared in the movie and sound track for Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. He’s performed as a session musician on several Ken Burns documentaries including The Mayo Clinic with Bill Frisell and The Roosevelts: An Intimate History. Recently, Murdock has been honored to work with the Ewers Brothers Film team to create music for the Mental Health Series, which on PBS in 2022.
Steeped in old-time folk, country and blues, Putnam Murdock’s songwriting presents an honest voice of Americana music. As a one-man band or a full ensemble, the intimacy remains obvious in either his contemporary sonic collages or his classic ballads. His fourth studio release, Long Time To Make Old Friends, recorded at Bunker Studios, was released in early 2025. This latest release showcases songs penned with his co-songwriting partner and mentor, Reed Foehl.
