About Perc Ens
Perc Ens is a minimalism percussion ensemble. Inspired by composers like Steve Reich, Julius Eastman, and Terry Riley, Perc Ens performs intense, often acoustic compositions and improvisations. Their live performance has many iterations, including perchance marimba, lights, drum set, hand percussion, sermon, or toy piano, all played to showcase each item’s melody, rhythm, and timbre. Riding a pendulum between composition and improvisation, Perc Ens achieves moments of flourished epiphany juxtaposed against droning repetition, like a tacitly humble solo shaker.
