Once a month, Swallow Hill Music founder Harry Tuft invites a musical guest to join him for an intimate evening of songs and stories on stage.
The evening begin with a performance from Harry and his guest from 7:00 – 8:15 PM, followed by an intermission from 8:15 – 8:30, and a song circle 8:30 – 10:00 PM. The audience is encouraged to participate in the song circle, with or without an instrument!
For the upcoming June 15th event, Harry says:
“My guest is my good friend and fellow musician, Janet Feder (www.janetfeder.com).
A native of Boulder, Colorado Janet is most widely known for pioneering composition for prepared guitar. Free from genre, her music both acknowledges and is simultaneously unmoored from the trappings of jazz, classical, avant-garde, folk or pop, creating a new musical lexicon and aesthetic ideal alike.
She has been featured on numerous recordings, radio programs, and film scores including the internationally acclaimed solo albums, Songs With Words, and T H I S C L O S E.
Janet is a lecturer at the University of Colorado. Touring and teaching internationally, she has performed and collaborated with a diverse landscape of renowned musicians including Nels Cline, Erik Deutsch, Bill Frisell, Fred Frith, Ron Miles, Tatsuya Nakatani, and Elliott Sharp, among many others.
Janet is currently an artistic associate of Square Product Theatre, and serves on the boards of Creative Music Works and Supporters of Children.
My hope for this concert is to expose and educate my audience to the amazing musical world that Janet has created, as well as sharing songs collaboratively. “
