About Harry & Friends
In 2024, the tradition continues! Our founder, Harry Tuft, will be coming by to swap songs and stories with his talented musician friends. The evening begins with an interview and performance with Harry’s guest, from 7:00 – 8:15 PM. After a 15-minute break, there will be a song circle, to which players and listeners are all invited. The song circle ends at 9:45 in order for the building to close at 10 PM.
Harry’s “friend” will be…
Mag Hayden featuring Jack Stanesco on guitar!
Mag was born and raised in Colorado. Her Grandmother was an accomplished musician, and was an important influencer of her love for music. Early on (age five to eleven), Mag took piano lessons from Dr Antonia Brico which was an unsuccessful introduction to music. Fortunately, she got a guitar in high school, which turned things around. Her Uncle Dave sang and played the guitar, and was likely an early mentor of sorts for the kinds of music she is still drawn to today.
Mag’s other main interest was and still is,horses. After graduating from Lewis and Clark College, she worked for several large Arabian show and breeding farms.
After moving back to Denver, getting married and starting a family, Mag went to work at Harry’s Denver Folklore Center on South Pearl Street. She was the first employee at this location, and was there for twenty years. It was during this time that she also began teaching at Swallow Hill. Harry has been a strong influencer for Mag’s continued enjoyment of music.
Mag currently lives with her husband, two dogs and two horses on the old family ranch outside of Evergreen.
