After a 2014 Jimmy Buffett concert, Bob Barrick and Brendan Mayer both left with police escorts—Brendan to the airport, continuing his tour with Buffett, and Bob to the local jail. That unlikely twist marks the start of a creative partnership rooted in vivid storytelling and shared humor.
Barrick, an indie-folk artist known for his raw, introspective lyrics and disarming wit, built his reputation on stages like the Bluebird Music Festival and through collaborations with artists such as Joshua Lee Turner. Mayer, immersed in music from a young age as the son of Coral Reefer guitarist Peter Mayer, developed a soulful Americana style, reflecting both his family’s legacy and his distinct artistry through heartfelt lyrics and a polished, evocative sound.
Together, they craft songs that merge Barrick’s sharp, contemplative storytelling with Mayer’s melodic sensitivity. Their music bridges the humor and heart of two distinct paths, creating a sound as vivid as their shared stories.
