Two-time Grammy-nominated folksinger, Eliza Gilkyson, is announcing her new album release Home, due out on Jun 23, 2023 on Realiza Records- a collection of songs written during the pandemic that reflect her appreciation for her adobe home in Taos, New Mexico, as well as her expanded view of what home can be for so many of us: “a sanctuary where our love abides within us and without us”. Featuring duets with friends Mary Chapin Carpenter and Robert Earl Keen as well as the intimate, challenging and insightful songs for which she is known, “Home” offers another glimpse into Gilkyson’s unique perspective on the times and the world we live in.
An inductee into the Austin Music Hall of Fame, the Austin Songwriter Hall of Fame, and winner of countless Folk Alliance and Austin Music Awards including Song of the Year at the Folk Alliance international Convention in 2021 for “Peace in Our Hearts”, Gilkyson has written songs that have been covered by Joan Baez, Tom Rush, Rosanne Cash and others. On stage, she presents a vibrant, spontaneous mix of storytelling with self-effacing humor and tenderness, within a wide-ranging spectrum of human experience, from intimate love songs to political diatribe to upbeat songs that reflect her deep appreciation for the natural world and longtime love affair with the Southwest, and is always accompanied by first-rate masterful musicians.
Gilkyson will be touring key dates in 2023 and looking forward to getting back out on the road again, as well as performing her ongoing livestream shows from her studio in Taos, NM
“Even her darkest moments are warmed by a genuine compassion for the lost souls who sometimes populate her stories, and a very real concern for the world we all live in is woven through every tune… Whether she looks into darkness or light, Eliza Gilkyson’s vision is impressive.” ~ All Music Guide
“Drawing on elements of folk, country and Americana, Gilkyson, like contemporaries Shawn Colvin, Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, demonstrates that the craft of songwriting, intelligent and lasting, is ultimately in the hands of those who can not only turn out a compelling second album, but five, or ten, or with this Grammy-nominated performer, over twenty.” ~ Direct Current Music
