Ameya is a collaboration of five dynamic singers who create music spontaneously, without a score, chart, or director. Comprised of Swallow Hill Instructor Roy Willey, along with Marta Aarli, Cynthia Hauk, Celeste Niehaus, and Tom Weiser, the ensemble’s strength lies in its ability to open to the unknown and transform the immediacy of the moment into compelling, relatable music. Every piece Ameya sings is improvised in the moment, never sung before, never to be sung again.
Ameya shares their music to demonstrate the powerful creative effects of cooperation, connection, and community.
Singer-songwriter Jen Hitt is a musician in love with yoga, eggs, hiking, in-season tomatoes, community, dreams, and cheese.
Jen teaches at Swallow Hill Music, sings with St. Martin’s Chamber Choir and various churches and synagogues, and produces radio for Colorado Public Radio.
For this Top of The Hill show, Jen will be joined on stage by Swallow Hill community members Belle Mason (front desk staff), Jean Excell, Brittany Ekstrom, Carolyn Shulman, and Mike Pederson.
