Sawtelle Recording Studio

Beloved musician and member of the Hot Rize, the late Charles Sawtelle had a long history with Swallow Hill Music, even before it became Swallow Hill. Over the years, Charles had put together a fabulous recording studio in Boulder. In 1998, thanks to the generosity of his estate, Swallow Hill Music made sure that his legacy will endure.

The Sawtelle Studio, with three rooms and a industry standard digital service, is specialized in acoustic music, and is available to Colorado musicians at very competitive prices. Please contact our recording engineer Brian Hunter at (303) 725-9489, or the Front Desk at 303.777.1003 x 2 for more information about rates and scheduling.

About Brian Hunter, Sound Engineer

Swallow Hill Music’s Denver recording studio is run by Brian Hunter. Brian is formally trained in the art of sound recording. He studied music technology at the University of Colorado at Denver, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Industry Studies. Brian has nearly 10 years of experience both in the studio and in concert settings.

Music recorded by Brian can be heard on countless local demo & CD projects, and even on regional radio and Grammy-nominated albums. He also runs live sound in the Daniels & Tuft Concert Halls, where he has worked with acts like Tommy Emmanuel, Guy Clark, John Oats and Roger McGuinn.

In addition to being an engineer, Brian is also a musician. With guitar, bass, and keyboard abilities, he can both contribute to sessions musically and use his musician’s perspective to gain insight and understanding about what’s being recorded. No matter what your project needs are, Brian has the knowledge and skills necessary to assist you.
