Band Together is a dynamic musical team building activity developed by the experts at Swallow Hill Music, a Denver-based nonprofit that’s been bringing people together through music since 1979.
Designed for staff retreats, leadership development, or group training sessions, Band Together is a team building activity that breaks participants into small groups to learn and play instruments, no prior experience required.
Under the guidance of Swallow Hill’s professional instructors, teams learn the fundamentals, practice together, and then reunite for a collaborative final performance—all within a few hours.
The result is a memorable experience that builds trust, inspires vulnerability, and strengthens collaboration and creativity in a fun low-pressure environment. When you book a Band Together team building activity, your organization is also supporting a local nonprofit committed to building community through music.
We welcome participants of all backgrounds and abilities and can tailor the program to meet your team’s specific goals and needs.
How it Works
Band Together can take place at your location of choice or at Swallow Hill Music on South Broadway and Yale in Denver.
1) Welcome
Swallow Hill staff will set the stage and expectations.
2) Break out
Participants break into groups – instrument groups may include guitar, percussion instruments, or ukulele.
3) Learn and improve
Each group will work with a Swallow Hill instructor to introduce the instrument basics in a fun, relaxed group environment.
4) Rehearse
All the groups come together to practice a song together.
5) Perform
You’ll be amazed at what you can perform as a group.
6) Reflection
Lead by a facilitator, you’ll reflect together how the experience relates to your daily work and mission.
