Her most recent release, Rare Birds, thrust her onto the national stage including a trip to the highly coveted Kerrville Folk Festival. Now based in Colorado, Barnes writes vivid songs of empathy, love and perseverance over lush melodies. With an uncanny ability to turn a phrase and deliver lyrics that rattle around in your head, Mike Herz writes and performs in a style that is all his own. Born and raised in New Jersey, music has brought him across America and into venues of all shapes and sizes. He’s played the main stage at the prestigious Rocky Mountain Folks Festival and also occupied the corner of dive bars where intoxicated people request songs he doesn’t know. With a variety of albums and projects under his belt one thing remains consistent: Herz writes songs that hit home.
