Workshops engage groups of individuals and students in hands-on activities!

Instrument Petting Zoo

A hands-on experience for kids and adults – led by knowledgeable Swallow Hill Teachers (our “zookeepers”) – participants can try out, strum, beat and play their way through ukuleles, hand drums, guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, mini-pianos, and more. We provide the instruments and guidance and help bring the participant’s curiosity to life.

Ukulele Workshop

The “Uke”, with its four nylon strings, is great for beginners – easier to learn than other stringed instruments, portable, affordable, and most importantly fun. Participants will learn the parts and history of the ukulele and will be strumming along to popular folk music songs in just one session. Swallow Hill will provide the ukuleles for each participant. Workshop can be customized for most all ages.

Harmonica Workshop

The “Harp” is an accessible and affordable instrument that promotes self-expression. Participants learn the basic of embouchure, blowing, and drawing and will be playing a song by the end of the session. Students will keep the harmonicas after the workshop to continue their music learning. Workshop can be customized for most all ages.

Sing Along, Move Along

A music and movement class for pre-school-2nd grade students. This one-time class serves an introduction to music making using songs, creative movement, rhymes, percussion instruments and other fun activities. Swallow Hill Music will provide materials and instruments.
