Every 2nd Saturday most months
Learn the basics and compositions of Tabla. Develop the clarity, the stamina, and a better understanding of its language in these three hour monthly sessions which explore the sounds and feels of the Tabla: the iconic pair of twin hand drums of North Indian heritage. Tabla players, new students, percussionists, and non-percussionists looking to learn Hindustani and other musical genres that feature this instrument are welcome. In these sessions led by Nabin Shrestha, we’ll provide some of the instruments, but also invite other kinds of instruments to accompany the jam.
We want to create a Tabla player community by introducing the instrument’s language to non-Tabla players and play Hindustani compositions across various genres and instruments. Rhythm players will begin to understand the language and all the math behind the Tabla compositions.
To keep jam sessions like this going, we ask that you consider contributing a suggested donation of $5-10 to directly support our teachers and music school. This will help us ensure offerings such as this will go on and on and on, just like a good jam should. Donate online here or in-person with cash at the jam.
