DENVER, COLO. (4/22/08) -- As the only guitarist ever to win First Prize in the world's top competitions in both the classical and finger style genres—the Guitar Foundation of America International Classical Guitar Competition and the National Fingerstyle Championships at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival at Winfield—Michael Chapdelaine continues to enchant, dazzle, and surprise audiences and critics alike as he redefines the modern acoustic guitar. Swallow Hill is pleased to welcome him on Friday, May 16 at 8 p.m.

In his performances, he uses both steel string and classical guitars to take audiences on a journey from blues to Bach, from country to rhythm and blues, showcasing his versatility as an artist. In addition to his myriad performance awards, he is also an instructor, delivering master classes throughout the world, and an arranger and producer, having recorded Time-Life Music's beautiful Guitar by Moonlight collection.

Of his 1992 release, Sonata Romantica, (now re-released as Mexico), Acoustic Guitar magazine wrote, "...if I were marooned on a desert island with a limited selection of recordings, this one would be among my choices...I have seldom heard a more beautiful album. Other young guitarists have excellent technique, but few have such style and musicality, and Chapdelaine's beautiful tone is the nearest to Segovia's that I can recall."
