New concerts go on sale Nov 11! 2014 saw many album releases from some of our favorite artists. This spring, album release tours stop in Denver and Swallow Hill Music will be visited by Loudon Wainwright III, David Wilcox, and Karla Bonoff.
This September, Loudon Wainwright III released his 26th album, Haven’t Got the Blues (Yet). The Grammy award-winning artist is perhaps best known for the novelty song “Dead Skunk (in the Middle of the Road)” and for playing Captain Calvin Spalding on the American television show, M*A*S*H. But as described by the New Yorker, Loudon is “as good as he’s ever been. Almost 40 years into his recording career, he has not only retained his sharpness of wit but has also learned to cut with greater skill.” Loudon comes to Swallow Hill Music in April.
Singer-songwriter David Wilcox says of his latest album, blaze, “It was like hiking a new trail and seeing a vista for the first time…that surprise as the song changes in the middle of the take and suddenly I understand what the song means and I just go with it. That’s where ‘blaze’ comes from. I’m out there on a trail I don’t know but I’m not just bushwhacking. There’s a blaze on the trail for me to follow.” David Wilcox returns to Swallow Hill Music for two nights in March.
In April, Karla Bonoff celebrated another album release. Looking Into You: A Tribute To Jackson Browne features Karla along with fellow artists Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt, Indigo Girls, David Lindley, Lyle Lovett, Keb Mo, Lucinda Williams, Shawn Colvin, Bruce Springsteen and many more covering Jackson Browne’s songs. On tour for the album, Karla will stop at Swallow Hill Music in February.
Also on sale this Veteran’s Day are singer/songwriter John Gorka, a Valentine’s concert with Dakota Blonde and the 9th Annual ‘Beat the Reaper’ with blues man Clay Kirkland.
