Trinity Demask & Anne Preston
Trinity Demask’s music is a soundtrack for life’s little detours, breakdowns, and roadside revelations. Her enthralling voice and melodic, insightful songwriting capture the essence of life’s journeys with tales that are both personal and universal. Some songs lift you like a carefree, summer joyride while others explore the dark, empty places off the beaten path, shining a light of hope in the darkness.
A poet at heart with a knack for writing catchy melodies, Trinity has garnered songwriting accolades (2005 New Song Showcase winner at the Walnut Valley Festival) as well as praise for her emotive vocal style (“Trinity Demask has one of those voices that gives your heart and spirit a double-take” – Wendy Wham, KUNC). Often drawing comparisons to the angelic, rootsy tones of Alison Krauss, Trinity’s voice can also pack a powerhouse punch reminiscent of blues rocker Susan Tedeschi. Her signature Americana tunes blend the introspection and social awareness of folk and the warmth of country with rock and roll passion. Expect to laugh, be inspired, and leave with a chorus or two stuck in your head.
With her signature vibrancy, soulfulness and sincerity, Anne Preston’s vocals have consistently earned accolades throughout the Denver/Boulder music scene from the 1990’s on. You may remember her jazz stylings from the Hotel Boulderado, Trio's, and the Foundry in Boulder, or more recently, as lead vocalist with "Ear Reverence" at Living Water Spiritual Community in Arvada.
Anne has trained with some of the finest in the business, including, three-time Grammy nominee, Todd Buffa, internationally recognized vocalist and instructor, Lynn Skinner, and jazz recording artists, Mark Murphy and Roseanna Vitro. She credits Ella Fitzgerald, Abbey Lincoln, kd lang and Joni Mitchell as influences and offers a consistently unique take on classics crossing the genres, from jazz and blues to gospel, rock and R&B.
Denver area fans welcome Anne’s return to the live music scene on Saturday, March 30th at Swallow Hill in a duo performance with folk singer-songwriter Trinity Demask. “Working with such a fantastic performer as Trinity is something I have been looking forward to for a long time. I can’t wait to combine our very eclectic styles of music into an evening of passion and soul,” says Anne. The two performers will be backed up by their long-time collaborator, veteran pianist, Doug Roche.
