Gobs O'Phun w/ Peggy Fasing present A Musical Tribute to 'The Quiet Man'
This show will be more entertaining than any other musical event scheduled to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Come listen to the Gobs "Duke" it out as they bring you all the songs and fond memories from the classic John Wayne movie set in Ireland, "The Quiet Man".
The bed music of the movie has wonderful Irish melodies and snippets of songs, but the Gobs will give you the words, in the order presented in the movie, and string them together with dialogue/one-liners that make the movie so endearing. Add a bit of history, a few poetry readings, and other Irish song favorites that reflect the storyline and you’ll find yourself enjoying a truly special night to kick off St. Patrick's weekend.
Whether you've seen the movie or not, you will love this concert! The songs tell stories and the stories appeal to all cultural backgrounds. It's that simple (but if you want to be a part of the banter or have a refresher, find some time to watch the dvd before the concert!).
Gobs O'Phun is a family band, Denis Sullivan and his brother-in-law Martin Lambuth. They accompany themselves with guitar, bodhran, and the awe-inspiring "Bagmonica," which you have to see to believe.
The Gobs will be joined by an extraordinary musician, Peggy Fasing. Peggy has performed with the Denver Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Denver Chamber and numerous others. Her ensembles have performed for Broadway stars, Hollywood celebrities and recording artists, yet she lowers her standards to play with the likes of these two goobers because they’re so much fun!
This special presentation may never come around again as Gobs O'Phun is celebrating their 19th year, so be sure to get your tickets early and often!
